Regional forecast for North West England

Dry and fine today but becoming colder and more unsettled.

Today:

After a chilly start, it will be fine and dry through today. There will be plenty of sunshine and it will feel pleasant in the light winds. Maximum Temperature 13 °C.

Tonight:

It will turn cloudier through this evening. Patchy rain will then soon arrive from the north, and it will linger overnight. Minimum Temperature 7 °C.

Monday:

Monday will start damp and cloudy, with some rain into the afternoon. Hill snow is likely in the north but northern areas will dry up later, with some evening sunshine. Maximum Temperature 11 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Tuesday and Wednesday will be colder, with scattered showers giving the risk of hail and hill snow. It will then become drier on Thursday, but a few showers are possible.

It will be rather cloudy in the north with patchy rain at first, which will become more persistent later, with strong winds. For many it will be largely dry though, and pleasant in the sunshine.

Tonight:

Bands of rain will move south from Scotland tonight, with some snow over the hills in Scotland. It will become windy for many but southern areas should stay dry.

Monday:

Patchy rain will continue to move south tomorrow. Further sleet and snow will affect the north, especially over hills. Windy for many and feeling colder in the north.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Sunny spells and scattered showers are likely on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the risk of hail and some snow. Becoming drier and less cold on Thursday, with a few showers.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 28 Apr 2017 to Sunday 7 May 2017:

Friday is looking to have a north-west to south-east split across the country. Wet weather is fairly likely across northern and western parts with the best of the dry and bright weather further south-east, though even here the odd shower can't be ruled out at times. Temperatures will continue to recover to near average across the country. Into next weekend, more unsettled conditions are likely, especially in the north and west, with the best of any drier and brighter spells once again in the south-east. As we move into the first week of May, western and northern areas may continue to be rather unsettled whereas southern and eastern parts should be drier, brighter and feeling warmer.

UK Outlook for Monday 8 May 2017 to Monday 22 May 2017:

As we move through May high pressure appears more likely to be dominant through the majority of the period, meaning that below average rainfall is most probable during this time. However, low pressure may bring the possibility of less settled conditions at times, especially across western and northern areas. Temperatures are likely to be average or slightly above average. This will mean that we should lose the risk of frosts, and it will feel warm at times.
