UK forecast for the next 5 days

Cold and frosty for many tonight.

This Evening and Tonight:

Skies will clear for many overnight allowing a widespread and locally sharp frost to form, as well as some patchy fog. However, some cloud will affect south-west England and Wales and later eastern parts of England, giving a patchier frost.

Saturday:

Saturday will start cold and frosty for many with crisp winter sunshine. However, thicker cloud and some light drizzle, perhaps with some hill snow, will affect eastern and central England.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Dry and cold over the next few days with sunny spells and the occasional shower where cloud is thickest. Perhaps more widespread fog over England and Wales early next week.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Wednesday 25 Jan 2017 to Friday 3 Feb 2017:

Many should continue to be dry on Wednesday, however there is the risk of some fog particularly in the south where winds are light. Elsewhere, winds will strengthen and outbreaks of rain will slowly spread into the west during Thursday, perhaps with some snow across northern hills before temperatures gradually turn less cold. This continues into the weekend marking a change to unsettled weather through this period with bands of rain crossing the country, interspersed with brighter and showery interludes. It will be windy at times, with gales likely in the north-west and the heaviest rain is also likely across northern and western parts. Temperatures will be close to normal or occasionally mild for late January, however there is a low chance that the south-east could stay drier and colder.

Updated at: 1214 on Fri 20 Jan 2017

UK Outlook for Saturday 4 Feb 2017 to Saturday 18 Feb 2017:

Into the start of February, confidence in the forecast reduces, however the most likely scenario is for a continuation of the unsettled weather with wet and windy spells interspersed with brighter and showery interludes. This will bring gales at times, especially in the north-west and temperatures will be close to or slightly above normal for the time of year. From the second week of February there is an increased likelihood for high pressure to return, bringing more settled weather with lighter winds and a return of overnight frost and fog. As a result, temperatures may become colder at times although the chance of very cold weather developing is considered to be low.
