UK forecast for the next 5 days

Becoming much colder, with wintry showers initially

This Evening and Tonight:

Rain in the far south will soon clear leaving a clear and frosty night for many. Wintry showers will continue in Scotland and spread down the east coast of England. A few showers will affect Wales and the West Midlands.

Tuesday:

Heavy showers will spread southwards to all areas, bringing hail to the south, and sleet or snow in the north. A strong northerly wind will make it feel chilly everywhere.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Wednesday will be cold for most with more wintry showers in the south, but less cold in Scotland. Showers and wind will decrease on Thursday, and die down by Friday.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Saturday 29 Apr 2017 to Monday 8 May 2017:

Saturday is likely to be mainly dry and bright with temperatures less cold than recently, though it will still be rather cool for the time of year. However, rain is likely overnight in the far north and west and this may well spread across the rest of the UK on Sunday, with the best chance of drier weather in the east. There may be some further rain around on Bank Holiday Monday, but also some drier and brighter spells. As we move into the first week of May, we're expecting more settled weather to become established, with temperatures rising significantly giving us a warm week, perhaps very warm in some parts. The dry and settled weather is likely to last to the end of this period.

Updated at: 1309 on Mon 24 Apr 2017

UK Outlook for Tuesday 9 May 2017 to Tuesday 23 May 2017:

High pressure appears more likely to be dominant in the second week of May meaning that below average rainfall is most probable during this time. However, there is a chance of less settled conditions at times, especially across southern and southwestern areas. Temperatures are likely to be above average for the time of year with a chance of some very warm weather at times, with limited risk of frost. The forecast for the third week is less certain, though on balance, we might expect these settled and warmer than average conditions to continue.
