Scattered showers in west. Dry bright east.

Today:

The day will start windy with blustery showers, these more frequent in the west with some hill snow. It will be brighter across Fife and eastern coasts with some sunny spells, albeit with a wind chill. Maximum Temperature 8 °C.

Tonight:

Evening showers clearing with a dry but rather cloudy night to follow. Patchy frost in places. Some rain and hill snow arriving towards dawn. Cold with light winds. Minimum Temperature 0 °C.

Thursday:

Cloudy with some rain, sleet and snow. Some brighter spells are possible towards western Tayside in the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 3 °C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Scattered showers on Friday, wintry even down to low levels. Cloudy Saturday with outbreaks of rain, this heavy at times. A few showers on Sunday with some brightness in east.

Wet and very windy at times over the coming days.

Today:

Very windy in the north at first, with a scattering of showers persisting through the day. Fine and mostly dry across northern England, Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Meanwhile, cloudy skies prevailing further south, accompanied by outbreaks of rain.

Tonight:

Turning windy from the south overnight as cloud and rain, heavy and at times persistent, gradually spreads north-eastwards, turning to snow across parts of Scotland and northern England.

Thursday:

Very windy with a stormy spell across central parts. Rain for many at first, with heavy snow for northern hills, clearing to showers later, these wintry in places.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Occasional showers Friday, allowing sunny spells for some. Rain and strengthening winds arriving later, spreading eastwards through Saturday. Meanwhile, cloud and outbreaks of rain spreading northwards on Sunday.

UK Outlook for Monday 27 Feb 2017 to Wednesday 8 Mar 2017:

A fairly unsettled picture is likely at first, as further weather systems affect the UK from the Atlantic. Showery spells could affect many areas, particularly in the north-west where these may be thundery at times and could bring snow to higher ground, and even lower levels further north. Milder, cloudier weather is likely to be more prevalent further south and east at first, but all areas are likely to turn colder by the mid-week with an increasing risk of overnight frost. The changeable Atlantic influence is likely to remain in place as we go into March, with cloudy spells accompanied by rain and strong winds at times, falling as snow further north. There is a smaller likelihood of more settled conditions with overnight fog and frost by early March.

UK Outlook for Thursday 9 Mar 2017 to Thursday 23 Mar 2017:

For March there is a fair amount of uncertainty, but the weather is most likely to be unsettled at first. There will be spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions with some snow possible across the north of the UK. There will, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, particularly in the south and east where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be around average for the time of year but there remains a small chance of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, if settled conditions were to develop more widely. This is more likely later in the period.
