Cloudy start with patchy rain, becoming drier and brighter.

Today:

Cloudy start with patchy light rain. Becoming drier, brighter during morning with some afternoon sunshine, especially up across Caithness and Sutherland and also around Inverness where it will be mild. Staying cloudier, cooler over Lochaber with showers developing later. Maximum Temperature 16 °C.

Tonight:

Becoming cloudy with outbreaks of rain extending northwards. Rain most persistent overnight across Lochaber with some heavier outbreaks. Rain lighter, more patchy further north. A mild night everywhere. Minimum Temperature 8 °C.

Friday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain, mostly Moray and west Aberdeenshire during morning. Rain will extend to all parts during afternoon with drier, brighter, breezy weather following during the evening. Maximum Temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Sunny spells and scattered heavy showers on Saturday. Dry and bright with sunshine on Sunday. Dull and wet on Monday with strong southerly winds and rain, heavy at times.

Another mild, frost free night, with further outbreaks of rain in many northern and western parts which will turn heavy at times. Clear spells for parts of the south-east.

Friday:

Heavy, steady rain across Northern Ireland and western Scotland through the morning. A mostly dry, cloudy start elsewhere. Then sunny spells with showers in the west. Less warm than Thursday.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Saturday cooler with sunshine and showers, and a risk of frost overnight. Sunday fine and dry, feeling warm in sunny spells. Monday breezy with rain in the north and west.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Monday 3 Apr 2017 to Wednesday 12 Apr 2017:

Monday is likely to be cloudy with bands of rain and strong winds in the north-west. These may well spread into central areas later in the day. However, the south-eastern half of the UK will probably stay dry all day with sunny spells. Temperatures will stay above normal everywhere and it is likely to be warm in the east. By midweek, high pressure will become more dominant and the dry, bright weather will spread to the whole country for a few days. Winds will be light nearly everywhere. The best of the sunshine and the warmest temperatures will be in the south, with more cloud in the north. More changeable weather will probably become established by the start of the following week, especially in the north-west.

UK Outlook for Thursday 13 Apr 2017 to Thursday 27 Apr 2017:

The middle of April may see more unsettled conditions for a while with short periods of cloud, rain and strong winds particularly affecting the north and west of the UK. Dry and calm conditions are more likely to dominate, especially in the south and later in the month. Temperatures are expected to be warmer than average, but with rather chilly nights at times, leading to frost in a few places. Any colder spells are likely to be short-lived too, although there are some hints that these may become more prevalent later in the month.
