Rain warning of yellow

Yellow warning of rain

Be aware

Valid from 10:45 on Sunday until 21:00 on Sunday

Persistent and locally heavy rain will continue through much of today. With the rain falling on saturated ground, it may cause flooding in places before clearing away slowly eastwards later today. The public should be aware of this hazard. This is a further update to the warning, to reduce the northwestward extent.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

A waving cold front will continue to affect the southeast of the UK for much of today. It is likely to give a further 10-20 mm of rain in places before the system edges away southeastwards later today, taking the worst of the rain away with it. Given the wetter than average weather of late, these totals bring the risk of flooding in places.

The public is advised to take extra care, further information and advice can be found here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/
