Rain warning of yellow

Yellow warning of rain

Be aware

Valid from 14:00 on Wednesday until 23:00 on Wednesday

Further outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will affect Northern Ireland this afternoon and evening. The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

A complex area of low pressure moving across Ireland today will bring further outbreaks of rain, perhaps accompanied by thunder, across Northern Ireland this afternoon and evening. Rain is expected to be heavy at times with some local downpours possible. Overall totals between 20 and 40 mm in 3 to 6 hours are possible, although some areas will receive less than this. The heaviest rain is expected to be over western regions this afternoon and then over eastern regions this evening.

The public is advised to take extra care, further information and advice can be found here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/
