Rain warning of yellow

Yellow warning of rain

Be aware

Valid from 00:05 on Thursday until 06:00 on Friday

Further outbreaks of rain are likely across Wales through Wednesday, but are likely to become heavy and persistent again during Thursday and to persist into the early hours of Friday. The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding.

Chief Forecaster's assessment

A strong and moist westerly flow cover will cover Wales. As the moist air is lifted up over the high ground heavy and persistent rain is likely to develop, particularly during the second half of Thursday and into the early hours of Friday as the cold frontal zone begins to move southeastwards, crossing Wales. Through this period, rainfall totals of 40-60 mm are likely quite widely across the warning area, with locally 70-100 mm over the mountains. The heavy rain will also be accompanied by strong to gale force west or southwest winds.

The public is advised to take extra care, further information and advice can be found here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/
