Service detailsSatellite image for Europe and part of the eastern Atlantic, taken in the infrared spectrum.
Satellite images provide customers with a visual representation of actual cloud formations over a large area. These infrared satellite images are taken from a geostationary satellite, providing pictures throughout the day over the same region. They detect infrared radiation, which means that higher, colder, clouds appear whiter than lower level, warmer clouds. The images are provided in JPEG format, updated four times a day. The files are formatted in the following way - 00 UTC image - LIHH15_0000.JPG; 06 UTC image - LIHH15_0600.JPG; 12 UTC image - LIHH15_1200.JPG; 18 UTC image - LIHH15_1800.JPG. See the sample file LIHH15_1200.JPG. The European infrared satellite product is priced at £2,965 + VAT per annum, assuming a one-year contract. The price is purely for the service detailed and does not include technical support.
