Service details
Available for around 100 UK locations, this product provides detailed
time-step forecasts out to five days, for a range of weather elements.
Summary of service
details
- Detailed five-day forecasts for around 100
UK locations.
- File is split into two sections - time-step data and daily
data.
- Elements provided in time-step data - temperature (°C),
cloud cover (oktas), wind speed (knots), wind direction (degrees),
sea state code (see format section),
weather type code (see format section)
- Elements provided in daily data - maximum and minimum temperature
(°C), and weather description (e.g. rain, cloudy, etc).
- Forecasts are provided in three-hourly time-steps for the first
two days (starting at 1200), then in six-hourly timesteps for
the following three days for the time-step data
- Forecasts are provided as a daily summary for the daily data.
- CSV format.
- The information is pushed from our server to yours via FTP
push.
- Updated once daily by 06 UTC (forecasts start from previous
midday).
- The complete file of 100 cities is sent to you via FTP but
you then have to programme your site to only display the number
of cities for which you have purchased a licence.
- It is the number of cities information that you are licensed
to display which is important not the actual locations.
This service is one of our top-end datafeeds, as it provides a
great level of forecast detail for locations spread throughout
the UK.
Format
The file consists of a Header Section, followed by a Time-step
Data Section and a Daily Data Section. A blank line separates successive
Sections. If 'Site Details' has been checked for
the customer, then these will be included in each Data Line as
shown below.
Header section
Info Line 0: Your choice of Header Text if required.
Info Line 1: Model_Run_Hour,Model_Run_Day,Model_Run_Month,Model_Run_Year,
Num_Following_Sections
Note: If no Header Text is required, Line 0 will be omitted from
the file.
Time-step Data Section

Location details for each of the Site IDs are provided in this
Excel spreadsheet.
If ‘Site Details’ has been checked, then the Data
Line will have the following format:
Data Line: SiteID,Latitude,Longitude,TimeDifference,T+,Day,Month,Year,Hour,Minute,
Val_Parameter_1,Val_Parameter_2,…,Val_Parameter_n
The Data Line is repeated for each required Timestep for the first
site, and then for each required Timestep for each subsequent site.
The number of Data Lines will be equal to Num_Sites * Num_Timesteps
Whereby parameter 1, 2, etc. are (timestep data):
A = 1.5 m Temperature (Celsius)
B = Cloud Cover (Oktas)
C = 10 m Wind Speed (Knots)
D = 10 m Wind Direction (Degrees)
I = Sea State Code (see below)
J = Weather Type Code (see below)
