The prestigious Television and Radio Industries Club (TRIC) has named Met Office broadcaster Carol Kirkwood as the UK's best TV weather presenter - for the third time. Carol also won the title last year and the inaugural award in 2003.
Carol joined the Met Office weather team at the BBC in 1998. For the last eight years she has been brightening morning television as the regular weather presenter on BBC Breakfast, as well as working on the BBC News Channel and BBC One.
Carol said: "Winning this award for a third time, for a job which I adore doing, is wonderful. I'd like to thank TRIC for the award and also all my friends and colleagues at both the Met Office and the BBC for making the job what it is."
The Met Office provides a world-class forecast service in association the BBC. A team of around 30 Met Office staff produces more than 120 weather broadcasts a day and more than 1,000 hours of television and radio each year - with forecasts for the whole world.
