UK forecast for the next 5 days

Staying cloudy tonight with patchy mist and fog reforming.

This Evening and Tonight:

Tonight will be mostly cloudy but much less cold than recent nights. Scotland and Northern Ireland will continue to have outbreaks of rain accompanied with gusty winds. England and Wales will once again see fog patches, especially on the hills.

Wednesday:

Early fog will lift with some brightness developing. Elsewhere, often cloudy with rain slowly edging south-east, it'll be windy too with gales in exposure. Feeling mild, especially in north-east Scotland.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Remaining unsettled with outbreaks of rain at times, mainly in the north and west, where it'll also be windy. Drier and bright interludes are likely too. Feeling mild for all.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Sunday 11 Dec 2016 to Tuesday 20 Dec 2016:

Sunday will start generally dry and bright for most, but it is likely to turn wetter from the north-west later in the day as a frontal band arrives from the Atlantic. Into the following week, further periods of wet and windy weather are expected to move across the UK. The most unsettled conditions are likely across the north and west with drier and brighter weather for southern and eastern areas. By mid December there will probably be some longer, drier spells between the wet weather, perhaps heralding a change to something generally more settled. It will also be fairly mild initially but temperatures are likely to return closer to normal, although passing weather systems may raise them at times.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 21 Dec 2016 to Wednesday 4 Jan 2017:

Whilst there is a good deal of uncertainty, it is most likely during this period that more settled conditions may dominate associated with high pressure affecting the UK. If the pressure does build, then we can expect drier than average conditions for most areas with lighter winds. Temperatures are also then likely to be below average with an increased risk of frost and fog, especially where skies remain clear overnight. However, there will probably also be some milder, unsettled interludes too, and as we head into the New Year this may become more of a feature in our weather.
