Mostly dry and bright but a few showers around.

Today:

Mostly dry with some sunshine after a dull, misty start. However isolated showers are possible across southern Britain, some heavy, and perhaps northwestern areas too. Heavy rain will become confined to the Northern Isles, where it will be breezy.

Tonight:

Extensive low cloud, mist and hill fog will affect many central and eastern parts of the UK, with drizzle in places. Dry with clear spells in the west.

Wednesday:

Many eastern parts will stay cloudy with patchy drizzle. Mostly dry elsewhere with warm sunny spells as cloud breaks up but isolated showers are possible in the far southwest later.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Saturday 20 Sep 2014 to Monday 29 Sep 2014:

It is likely to remain largely dry and settled for most at first, but it may turn more unsettled from the northwest later in this period. The weekend should be fine for many with variable cloud and some sunny spells, although there is a risk of the odd heavy shower in the south on Saturday. It is likely to be warm too, although perhaps not quite as warm as on previous days. The fine weather should persist next week, feeling warm by day in sunny spells, but some cool nights are also likely. It may turn windy and more changeable in the north and west towards the end of that week, with an increasing risk of showers or spells of rain, but the south and east should remain mostly fine.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 30 Sep 2014 to Tuesday 14 Oct 2014:

The end of September and the first half of October is likely to see more changeable conditions across the UK, with a mixture of fine and settled weather, interspersed with occasional unsettled spells. The drier and brighter conditions, with some warm sunshine, is then expected to be most prolonged across the south and east, whilst outbreaks of rain would then be most frequent across the north and west. During the more settled conditions daytime temperatures are then likely to be around and often above average, although chilly overnight with a risk of fog patches in places. However during any unsettled spells daytime temperatures are then likely to be below or close to average.
