A fine morning. Turning wet and windy later.

Tonight:

The wet and windy conditions will spread eastwards through the evening and night, with some heavy bursts of rain at times, especially over the Moors, and gales in exposure. Minimum Temperature 11C.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Mostly fine today, but turning wet and windy later.

Today:

Cloud and occasional rain across southeastern parts of England clearing this afternoon Showers in the far northwest. Otherwise a drier spell with some sunshine, before rain and strong winds spread into western areas this afternoon.

Tonight:

Wet and windy weather in the west, with gales in exposure, will spread across most parts overnight, though perhaps not reaching the far southeast of England by dawn.

Sunday:

Cloud and patchy rain will linger across the far southeast. Otherwise breezy with sunny spells and blustery showers, heavier and most frequent in the north and west. Feeling cooler.

Issued at: 0400 on Sat 01 Nov 2014

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Wednesday 5 Nov 2014 to Friday 14 Nov 2014:

Mainly dry on Wednesday and Thursday with just a few showers in the northeast at first. There will be a marked fall in temperature during the Wednesday evening with a sharp frost likely overnight, especially in the north. Later on Thursday, it will turn wet and windy in the west with some heavy rain possible for a time, and strong to gale force winds, and perhaps reaching severe gale force locally in the far northwest. Thereafter, a return to more unsettled and windy weather from the west looks the most likely scenario, with spells of rain pushing northeastwards across the country interspersed by brighter, showery and colder days. Some particularly wet and windy weather is a possibility at times. Temperatures are likely to return to nearer normal for November.

UK Outlook for Saturday 15 Nov 2014 to Saturday 29 Nov 2014:

During this period, the generally west or southwesterly flow is likely to bring spells of wet and windy weather, especially to northern and western parts of the UK. However, southern and eastern areas may see some drier and settled conditions increasing the likelihood of some sunshine, but also the risk of frost, mist and fog overnight, the latter of which could be slow to clear. Spells of unsettled weather are still likely across the south and east though. Daytime temperatures may well be near normal, although it will feel colder during any wet and windy spells.
