Regional forecast for South West England

Cold night. Outbreaks of rain spreading in through Sunday.

This Evening and Tonight:

A dry evening with some late sunshine. Temperatures falling sharply under the influence of clearing skies and light winds, leading to a grass frost in prone rural spots overnight. Cloud is likely to spread into western areas by dawn. Minimum Temperature 2C.

Sunday:

After a bright, chilly start, cloud will increase from the southwest. Whilst some places will stay dry, rain will reach western parts by late afternoon, extending to most parts later. Maximum Temperature 18C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Persistent, often heavy, rain followed by showers on Bank Holiday Monday. Windy. A wet start, then turning drier, brighter on Tuesday, and continuing into Wednesday. However, further rain possible later.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Showers easing away leading to an unseasonably cold night.

This Evening and Tonight:

Showers in the north and east will fade away and become confined to windward coasts this evening. Temperatures will fall sharply under clearing skies and light winds with a grass frost likely by dawn in some rural locations.

Sunday:

After a cold start, largely fine for many with the best of the sunshine across northern and eastern parts. Thickening cloud brings rain to Northern Ireland and southwest Britain later.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Wet and breezy for many on Monday, although Scotland remaining dry. Rain clearing southern parts on Tuesday with brighter conditions following and continuing into Wednesday. Rain into western areas later.

Issued at: 1700 on Sat 23 Aug 2014

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Thursday 28 Aug 2014 to Saturday 6 Sep 2014:

Rather unsettled across much of the UK on Thursday, Friday and into the weekend with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, interspersed with brighter and drier interludes. It will be windy at times in the northwest. However, conditions may become drier and brighter across southern parts through Friday, into the weekend and perhaps into the start of the new week. A northwest to southeast split is the most likely scenario through the rest of the period with the wettest weather likely to be in the northwest, where it will be windy at times, whilst the best of the drier and brighter interludes will be towards the southeast and possibly becoming lengthier with time. Temperatures will be near normal, but warm at times during the sunnier periods and towards the southeast.

UK Outlook for Sunday 7 Sep 2014 to Sunday 21 Sep 2014:

Current signals continue to suggest a broadly changeable spell of weather. As such, most regions can expect to see spells of fine weather, with some warm sunshine at times. However, these spells will then be interspersed with more unsettled conditions bringing showery outbreaks and perhaps more prolonged spells of rain. Northern and western parts are then likely to see the most frequent bouts of unsettled weather, whilst southern and eastern parts are likely to see the most frequent and prolonged fine and dry spells. Daytime temperatures, meanwhile, are likely to be warm during the fine spells and near or below average during unsettled weather.
