UK forecast for the next 5 days

Cold with snow showers, heaviest in northwest. Frost overnight. Windy.

This Evening and Tonight:

It will be a windy night with frequent snow showers, locally thundery, across northern and northwestern parts. Scattered wintry showers elsewhere, these mainly in west. Drier and clearer conditions in the southeast, this will allow a frost to develop.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Monday 2 Feb 2015 to Wednesday 11 Feb 2015:

The general cold feel to the weather will continue during the first week of February, as the northerly winds bring hail, sleet and snow showers to the country. Showers will be frequent across northern parts and may affect other coastal areas at times, with widespread overnight frost and ice too. There is a low probability of more widespread rain and snow over southwestern areas, early in the week. Strong northerly winds at first, with gales in places, will lead to a significant wind chill, this gradually easing. The driest and brightest weather will be across sheltered southern parts. There are signals for a change to less cold temperatures and spells of rain by next weekend, though there is still a risk of snow, frost and ice at times.

UK Outlook for Thursday 12 Feb 2015 to Thursday 26 Feb 2015:

It looks most likely that unsettled conditions will continue across much of the UK with temperatures closer to normal when compared to the start of February. This may be more obvious across parts of southern and western Britain where it might be a little wetter than average as spells of wind and rain make their way in from the Atlantic. However, there is the possibility of pressure building around the middle of the month bringing more settled conditions, particularly in the south.

London information

The city of London is the capital of England and is located in the South East of England on the river Thames.

London has been a major settlement for approximately two millennia and was originally founded by the Romans. As the capital of England, it is a leading metropolitan city and is one of the world's leading financial hubs.

London is made up of a number of boroughs, stretching from Hillingdon, Hounslow and Richmond in the West, across to Havering, Bexley and Barking & Dagenham in the East. Barnet and Enfield are on the northern edge of the city whilst Croydon, Sutton and Bromley are found in the south.

Unsurprisingly, London one of the world's top tourist cities and it is easy to see why. From fantastic shopping in Kensington & Chelsea through to sightseeing in the historic areas of Westminster, London has something for all tastes and budgets.

For many visitors, the main attraction in London is Buckingham Palace, home to the Queen and various members of the British Royal Family. It has served as the residence of British royals since 1837 and is still today the administrative centre for the Monarch and Royal Family. Hosting 775 rooms, the palace opens only 19 state rooms for tours during the summer, although these are decorated with some pieces from the royal collection and form the heart of the palace.

Sport is a huge part of London life, with Wembley Stadium hosting major events including the FA Cup final and every home England international football match. The city's two major cricket venues, Lords and The Oval, hold regular Test matches and in Newham, the Olympic Stadium played host to the 2012 Olympic Games. The city is also home to some of Europe's leading football clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

London is also at the heart of the tennis calendar every summer during the Wimbledon championships. Some of the world's finest players (and occasionally, the weather) have taken centre stage over the years at SW19 to create some of sports most iconic memories.

At the O2 Arena (formally known as the Millennium Dome), some of the world's leading names from the world of music, sport and entertainment wow the crowds whilst Leicester Square is synonymous with some of the world's best theatre productions.

Outdoor activities are also an important part of life in London and regular concerts and events are held at Hyde Park which, along with Kensington Gardens, features a memorial to the late Diana, Princess of Wales.
