Regional forecast for Yorkshire & Humber

Windy with some rain Wednesday. Mainly fine Thursday.

Today:

Starting bright but windy, and while further bright intervals are likely, in general it should feel rather cool as cloudier conditions and occasional rain develop, the rain turning heavy at times locally. Brightening generally late on as windier conditions return. Maximum Temperature 12C.

Tonight:

Remaining rain should clear eastwards to leave a drier, clearer remainder of the night. The wind should ease later, although with enough of a breeze to prevent a frost. Minimum Temperature 4C.

Thursday:

A much improved day compared to Wednesday, with plenty of pleasant sunny spells, increasingly light winds and very isolated showers, with even these showers dying away later. Maximum Temperature 13C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Mostly fine Friday, although perhaps cloudier than Thursday. Wet and windy conditions probably moving eastwards through Saturday ahead of a brighter Sunday, with higher temperatures perhaps tempered by the breeze.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

The weather will remain very changeable today.

Today:

There will be bright spells and showers today. Showers will be heavy and possibly thundery, merging to give more prolonged spells of rain, especially in the west at first, and east later. Very windy and gusty in the south again.

Tonight:

Blustery showers will continue across the north and northeast of Scotland overnight. Elsewhere it will become mostly dry with clear spells, and the gusty west to northwesterly wind will ease.

Thursday:

Remaining cool and windy in the far north with further showers, wintry on the hills. Most other areas will have a dry day with gentle winds and pleasantly warm sunshine.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Friday will start mostly fine. Wet and locally windy weather looks set to gradually move northeastwards across all parts, clearing later Saturday. Further rain in northwest Sunday. Brighter elsewhere.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Monday 11 May 2015 to Wednesday 20 May 2015:

Outbreaks of rain in the far northwest at first on Monday will weaken and move southeast to become slow moving over Northern England and Southern Scotland. To the northwest, cooler, brighter but showery conditions will follow, while to the southeast warmer, drier and sunnier conditions are expected. It is then likely to become fairly unsettled through the rest of the week, particularly in the northwest, with occasional spells of rain or showers, and strong winds at times. Drier, brighter conditions are more likely towards the southeast, where it will also be rather warm for a time, although some showers cannot be ruled out here too. This northwest-southeast divide then looks likely to continue through the weekend and into the following week.

UK Outlook for Thursday 21 May 2015 to Thursday 4 Jun 2015:

Overall, fairly mixed conditions are expected through the period, with many areas experiencing spells of fine and bright weather, interspersed with more changeable conditions. The most unsettled conditions are likely to be across northern and northwestern areas, whilst the best of the settled weather is more likely towards the south and southeast. However, there is a signal that some drier conditions could develop across northern parts towards the end of May or early June as well. Temperatures are likely to be around average for most areas, although spells of more settled weather will be accompanied by higher daytime temperatures, particularly in the south or southeast, where it could be rather warm for a time. Some chilly nights are also possible, perhaps with isolated overnight frost in rural northern parts.
