Any mist clearing this morning, otherwise dry. This afternoon will be largely dry with variable amounts of cloud and some brightness, best of the sunshine across North Highland. Chance of an isolated shower across the southwest later. Brisk southeasterly wind. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Tonight:

Apart from an isolated shower it will be largely dry this evening and overnight with variable amounts of cloud. Some misty low cloud developing across the northeast later. Minimum temperature 12 °C.

Saturday:

Mainly dry with some brightness, the east may see more in the way of cloud at times. Best of the sunshine in the northwest where it will be warm. Maximum temperature 23 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Chance of some showers on Sunday, brightest and warmest in the far west. Dry early next week.

Wet and windy in the west. Sunny in the east.

Today:

A band of heavy and persistent rain will affect the west and southwest from dawn, with the risk of thunder and coastal gales. It will edge slowly eastwards, however eastern parts will be bright with scattered showers.

Tonight:

The rain band will slowly move across western and central parts tonight, still with some heavy outbreaks. Heavy showers in the southwest later, but for many it will become dry.

Saturday:

There will be sunshine and scattered showers for many on Saturday, with the risk of hail and thunder. The far north will stay dry, with the best of the sunshine.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Further thundery showers are likely on Sunday. Monday and Tuesday will then be mostly dry and bright, perhaps with some showers in central and eastern parts.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 25 Jul 2017 to Thursday 3 Aug 2017:

Many areas will be dry on Tuesday with some sunny spells but there is the chance of a few showers, especially in the east. Early on Wednesday, there is an increasing chance of cloud and rain spreading into western areas, accompanied by strengthening winds. Staying unsettled through the rest of the week as bands of rain continue to move in from the west, interspersed by brighter and showery interludes. Rain or showers could be heavy at times, especially in the northwest, with the driest weather further south and east. It will be windy at times with the risk of gales across the north, and often rather cool, especially in the west. This changeable weather is likely to continue into the start of August, especially in the north.

UK Outlook for Thursday 3 Aug 2017 to Thursday 17 Aug 2017:

There is low confidence throughout this period. We are likely to see some fine, dry spells of weather across the United Kingdom, but also some unsettled weather at times, mainly in the north. Temperatures are likely to recover to some extent with warmer than average temperatures at times through to mid-August, but there may be cooler conditions at times, especially in the northwest.
