    Very windy at first, with gales in places, though the winds will ease later on. Otherwise, early rain will clear to allow increasing amounts of sunshine during the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 11 °C.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Dry at first on Friday, with sunny spells for most, though rain and strengthening winds arriving later, spreading eastwards through Saturday. Cloudy on Sunday with outbreaks of rain.

    Very windy in the north at first, with a scattering of showers persisting through the day. Fine and mostly dry across northern England, Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Meanwhile, cloudy skies prevailing further south, accompanied by outbreaks of rain.

    Tonight:

    Turning windy from the south overnight as cloud and rain, heavy and at times persistent, gradually spreads north-eastwards, turning to snow across parts of Scotland and northern England.

    Thursday:

    Very windy with a stormy spell across central parts. Rain for many at first, with heavy snow for northern hills, clearing to showers later, these wintry in places.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Occasional showers Friday, allowing sunny spells for some. Rain and strengthening winds arriving later, spreading eastwards through Saturday. Meanwhile, cloud and outbreaks of rain spreading northwards on Sunday.

    UK Outlook for Sunday 26 Feb 2017 to Tuesday 7 Mar 2017:

    Late February and early March look generally mild, changeable and unsettled at times, with Atlantic depressions pushing across the UK. This means there will be spells of rain, some of which could be heavy across high ground in the north and west, and accompanied by windy conditions, perhaps with gales at times, again more likely in the north and west. Showers in between these Atlantic systems could be wintry over northern hills. Some wind and rain is likely for the south and east too, though with more prolonged spells of drier and brighter weather in-between. Throughout this period there remains a lower chance that high pressure centred to the southwest of the UK may become more dominant and this would mean rather more settled conditions establishing themselves, with overnight frosts.

    UK Outlook for Wednesday 8 Mar 2017 to Wednesday 22 Mar 2017:

    For March there is a fair amount of uncertainty, but the weather is most likely to be unsettled at first. There will be spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions with some snow possible across the north of the UK. There will, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, particularly in the south and east where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be around average for the time of year but there remains a small chance of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, if settled conditions develop more widely. This is most probable later in the period.
