Turning drier and brighter from the west today.

Patchy light rain, mainly across the east, will clear during the morning to leave a dry day. There will be some sunshine this afternoon, especially across western counties, but it will feel fresher than of late in a northwesterly breeze. Maximum Temperature 16°C.

It will be mostly dry overnight with clear spells, light winds and the odd fog patch. An isolated shower is possible, and it will be cooler than recent nights. Minimum Temperature 7°C.

A largely dry day will follow on Thursday with light winds and sunny spells, where it should feel pleasant. Again, an isolated shower is just possible. Maximum Temperature 16°C.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Dry and fairly cloudy on Friday but the odd spot of rain is possible at times across western counties during the weekend. It will be windier too and feel cool.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Gradually brightening up from the west.

Bands of heavy rain will continue to affect some eastern and northeastern parts of the UK, otherwise most places will become drier and brighter from the west. It will feel fresher too, away from northeastern Britain.

Rain will eventually clear the far northeast of Scotland overnight, leaving most places dry with clear spells and just the occasional shower. Chillier than of late with fog patches.

Most places will be dry and fine after a chilly start but isolated showers will develop, mainly across parts of western Britain. It will feel pleasantly warm in the sunshine.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Dry for most on Friday but through the weekend it is likely to be cloudier, wetter and windier across northern and western Britain. Breezy for most and generally feeling cooler.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Sunday 11 Oct 2015 to Tuesday 20 Oct 2015:

Initially it looks likely that western areas will be rather cloudy with rain or showers at times whereas further east it will be generally drier and brighter. However as we go through next week the most likely scenario will be for northern and southern areas to be unsettled at times with central and eastern Britain more likely to be drier and brighter. Then from the following weekend onwards there is currently much uncertainty but the latest indications are for rain or showers at times, mainly in the south and west, with the north and east more likely to be drier. Temperatures will probably be around or slightly below average, and in addition over the first couple of days there may be a risk of gales in the west.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 21 Oct 2015 to Wednesday 4 Nov 2015:

Things look very uncertain for the remainder of October and into early November, although there are likely to be further spells of rain or showers. Initially these remain most likely across southern and western parts, although there will probably be a gradual trend to more of a west east split. Western areas will therefore become more at risk of seeing the wettest and most unsettled conditions with the best of the drier, brighter weather most likely to turn up in the east and southeast. Temperatures will probably balance out close to or slightly below average, but with the possibility of some chilly nights in the more settled spells which could give rural frosts.
