    A dull start with some patchy light rain, then becoming dry and quite bright with some sunny intervals. Strengthening west to southwest winds with gales developing high ground, north coast. Maximum Temperature 17 °C.

    Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

    Some rain at times on Wednesday, with strengthening southwesterly winds, gales later. Sunshine and blustery showers will follow on Thursday and Friday, and staying windy.

    Heavy rain will move in from the southwest through today, affecting Wales and the southwest in particular. Northern Scotland and Northern Ireland will stay driest and brightest but some showers are likely to develop here.

    The rain will continue across most south and central areas tonight, perhaps with some heavier bursts. Towards dawn occasional rain will affect many but it'll be mild for most.

    Tuesday:

    Tuesday will start grey and damp with patchy rain across western parts. Locally heavy rain will clear to the east later but it'll be windy in the north.

    Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

    Windy for most on Wednesday with rain and coastal gales in the north. Rain will clear south-eastwards through Thursday and Friday with sunshine and blustery showers following.

    Cool with sunshine and showers on Friday and Saturday with strong wind perhaps giving gales in the north or northwest with the showers most frequent here. There is low confidence by early next week but an unsettled pattern is most likely to continue, with spells of rain mixed with brighter, drier but occasional showery interludes. The northwest should see the most of the wet weather, with a risk of gales at times. Drier in southeastern parts, but some rain and breezy conditions are still possible. There is the slight chance that drier weather may spread to all parts for a few days from mid-week. Temperatures will vary but should average out to around normal for the time of year with some overnight frosts.
