Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Sunday 6 Dec 2015 to Tuesday 15 Dec 2015:

It is likely to remain unsettled with further areas of low pressure crossing the country, bringing showers or longer outbreaks of rain, heaviest in the northwest. Snowfall expected at times, for the northern hills and perhaps also to lower levels here at times. Brief settled periods are also expected however, with lighter winds, some sunshine and overnight frosts and fog, as high pressure builds temporarily between areas of low pressure. These settled spells may become persistent for a time towards the middle of the month, especially over southern parts of the UK. Temperatures are likely to be variable from day to day; mild with passages of wet and windy weather and cold under clear overnight skies in settled spells or during snowfall.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 16 Dec 2015 to Wednesday 30 Dec 2015:

The latest indications are that unsettled, wet and windy weather will continue into late December. Snowfall is expected at times for the northern hills and perhaps also to lower levels at times. Showers or longer spells of rain should affect most parts as Atlantic weather systems move across from the west, these bringing periods of strong winds or gales, severe at times. There are likely to be large temperature variations. Southern parts seeing a mixture of mild, wet and windy weather, interspersed by colder settled spells, whilst northern parts may also see colder unsettled spells with snowfall.
