    Regional forecast for North West England

    Dry and bright for most with lighter winds today.

    Dry and bright for most today with patchy cloud around for much of the day, possibly thick enough in the south this afternoon for an isolated shower. With much lighter winds it will feel warmer in any sunshine. Maximum Temperature 12C.

    Tonight:

    It will stay dry overnight with largely clear skies leading to a chilly night. Under the clearer skies temperatures will fall with a patchy frost possible in rural areas. Minimum Temperature 3C.

    Friday:

    After a bright, chilly start it will gradually cloud over from the south with rain spreading north through the afternoon. Some of this rain will be heavy through this evening. Maximum Temperature 14C.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Some showers are likely at first on Saturday before becoming brighter. Clouding over on Sunday, but staying mostly dry. Cloudier once again on Monday with some patchy rain spreading south.

    Plenty of sunny spells and only isolated showers. Less windy.

    Today:

    Cool and windy in the far north with showers at times, wintry over hills during the morning. Mostly dry, bright, and feeling warmer elsewhere with light winds and only a few sharp showers possible across Southern parts of the UK.

    Tonight:

    Showers continuing in the far north of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Elsewhere mostly dry and chilly with a patchy frost in rural areas. Turning wetter and windier in the Southwest.

    Friday:

    Wet and windy weather will move northwards through the day. However most of Scotland will be drier and brighter with isolated showers. Southeastern England, becoming brighter after a damp start.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Dry and bright after a damp start Saturday with showers in the east. Wet and windy in the northwest Sunday, brighter and warmer elsewhere. Rain, patchier and spreading south Monday.

    Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

    UK Outlook for Monday 11 May 2015 to Wednesday 20 May 2015:

    Outbreaks of rain in the far northwest at first on Monday will weaken and move southeast to become slow moving over Northern England and Southern Scotland. To the northwest, cooler, brighter but showery conditions will follow, while to the southeast warmer, drier and sunnier conditions are expected. It is then likely to become fairly unsettled through the rest of the week, particularly in the northwest, with occasional spells of rain or showers, and strong winds at times. Drier, brighter conditions are more likely towards the southeast, where it will also be rather warm for a time, although some showers cannot be ruled out here too. This northwest-southeast divide then looks likely to continue through the weekend and into the following week.

    UK Outlook for Thursday 21 May 2015 to Thursday 4 Jun 2015:

    Overall, fairly mixed conditions are expected through the period, with many areas experiencing spells of fine and bright weather, interspersed with more changeable conditions. The most unsettled conditions are likely to be across northern and northwestern areas, whilst the best of the settled weather is more likely towards the south and southeast. However, there is a signal that some drier conditions could develop across northern parts towards the end of May or early June as well. Temperatures are likely to be around average for most areas, although spells of more settled weather will be accompanied by higher daytime temperatures, particularly in the south or southeast, where it could be rather warm for a time. Some chilly nights are also possible, perhaps with isolated overnight frost in rural northern parts.
