Regional forecast for South West England

Turning cloudier overnight with some fog. Milder this week.

    This Evening and Tonight:

Under clear skies towards the north-east it will turn cold this evening with some frost. However, low cloud and hill fog will roll in from the south-west overnight, preventing the frost from becoming too widespread. Minimum Temperature -3 °C.

Tomorrow will be milder and less windy than today for many, but rather cloudy with some fog persisting for quite a while. Maximum Temperature 12 °C.

    Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

The next few days will see a change to milder weather, with rain, drizzle and stronger winds at times. We will have frost-free nights.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Foggy night for many, with widespread frost in the north.

    This Evening and Tonight:

Largely clear skies across northern and central areas mean widespread frost and some freezing fog patches are going to develop here. Low cloud and hill fog will develop across the south and south-west, where it will turn less cold.

Another rather cold day for most. Sunny spells towards the north and east. Cloudier with hill fog in the south and west, and milder in the far south and west.

    Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Milder than of late with rain and strong winds at times, particularly in the north and west. Towards the south-east it should remain drier, but some rain is still possible.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 9 Dec 2016 to Sunday 18 Dec 2016:

After a bright start in the north/north-east on Friday, it is likely to turn cloudier as rain and strong winds spread from the west across all parts. The rain may linger in the south next Saturday but it should be drier and brighter in the north. There are then likely to be further periods of wet and windy weather through the following week. The most unsettled conditions are expected in the north-west with drier and brighter weather for southern and eastern areas. The somewhat changeable weather is then likely to be replaced by more settled conditions by the end of the period. Temperatures are also likely to return closer to normal for the middle of December, after something of a milder period.

UK Outlook for Monday 19 Dec 2016 to Monday 2 Jan 2017:

Whilst there is some uncertainty, it is most likely that high pressure is going to build through the second half of December, and so the weather should be more settled across the UK. If the pressure does build, then we can expect drier than average conditions for most areas with lighter winds. Temperatures are also then likely to be below average with an increased risk of frost and fog, especially where skies remain clear overnight. There is the potential for some more unsettled periods, but these look less likely.
