    A cold night in Scotland and Northern Ireland with scattered showers. Milder and cloudier further south with rain clearing England and Wales overnight, but more edging into the far north-west again, with some heavy bursts at times.

    Sunday:

    A dry start for much of the UK, becoming generally cloudier and windy with rain spreading from the west. Persistent rain and gales along western exposed areas; south-east remaining dry.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

    Sunny spells and heavy blustery showers, some thundery with snow over hills. Colder, especially in the north with overnight frosts and perhaps icy stretches. Rain spreading east on Wednesday.

    UK Outlook for Thursday 2 Mar 2017 to Saturday 11 Mar 2017:

    An unsettled picture is likely as frontal systems move into the UK from the west or southwest, bringing wet and windy weather at times with gales in places. Snow is likely over northern hills, with a low risk of some snow more widely at times across the north. Between frontal systems, there should be some spells of brighter weather with showers which may be wintry at times in the north. Nevertheless, some brief quieter, drier spells are also likely. Temperatures will generally vary around normal for the time of year, often slightly above average in the south but rather cold at times in the north, with night frosts. There remains the possibility of a more widely settled but colder period, perhaps giving wintry showers in the east and north.

    UK Outlook for Sunday 12 Mar 2017 to Sunday 26 Mar 2017:

    For the rest of March signals are weak and confidence is low. It will probably be rather unsettled with spells of wet and windy weather at first, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions. Some snow is also possible across the north of the UK. There should, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be slightly above normal for the time of year. However, there remains the possibility of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, with an increased chance of snow in places. This is more likely later in the period.
