UK forecast for the next 5 days

Often wet and windy with snow for some.

Rain spreading eastwards, turning to snow across parts of Scotland with accumulations likely even to low levels, then wintry showers following. Squally rain band moving south through the afternoon. Gales likely further south, locally severe, but winds easing this evening.

Rain, sleet and snow in the north easing, leaving the risk of ice. Band of rain continuing southwards across the south, before stalling, then beginning to move north later.

Rain moving north/northeastwards bringing snow over high ground of Northern Ireland, northern England and southern Scotland. Further showers in the north. Windy, especially in the south, with gales likely.

    Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Staying mostly unsettled with further showers or longer spells of rain and strong winds. Turning generally milder with any wintriness becoming largely confined to high ground in the north.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 4 Dec 2015 to Sunday 13 Dec 2015:

On Friday any rain across England will soon move away eastwards to leave most southern and eastern areas dry and bright, but with showers and strong winds likely further north and west. Then during the first weekend in December it will be generally windy with gales at times and further spells of rain and showers. The rain will probably be heaviest in the northwest, where there are likely to be some fresh falls of snow, but generally less pronounced across southern and eastern England. The temperature will vary between mild and rather cold. Then during the following week and weekend the latest indications are that the weather will quieten down a bit, especially across southern areas where frost and fog may well become increasingly likely.

UK Outlook for Monday 14 Dec 2015 to Monday 28 Dec 2015:

The latest indications are that unsettled, wet and windy weather will most likely return to all parts during mid December, with these conditions expected to continue into late December. Showers or longer spells of rain should affect most parts as Atlantic weather systems move across from the west, these bringing periods of strong winds or gales, severe at times. The temperature is expected to be around or slightly above average for the time of year.
