Regional forecast for London & South East England

Fog patches possible tonight but fine and warm on Friday.

    This Evening and Tonight:

A mainly dry and mild night to come with clear spells. Winds will be light so some rural mist or fog patches may reform towards dawn. Cloud may thicken enough over Kent after midnight for the odd spot of rain. Minimum Temperature 10C.

    Friday:

After a grey and misty start in places, another fine day is expected with spells of sunshine. Pleasantly warm again with temperatures well above normal for early October. Light winds. Maximum Temperature 21C.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

A wet and windy day on Saturday, clearing away later. Sunday will see a mix of sunshine and blustery showers with more wind and rain returning later on Monday.

Issued at: 1700 on Thu 02 Oct 2014

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Band of rain and strong winds moving into the northwest.

    This Evening and Tonight:

Turning wet and very windy overnight across Northern Ireland and Scotland, as a band of persistent and occasionally heavy rain gradually moves southeastwards. Staying dry elsewhere with clear spells, and isolated patches of mist and fog developing in the south.

    Friday:

Persistent, sometimes heavy rain will affect Northern Ireland and southern Scotland before spreading into northwest England and northwest Wales. Largely dry with warm sunny spells elsewhere. Breezy.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Rain and strong winds clear southeastwards during Saturday, with brighter but cooler conditions following. Mostly fine on Sunday, with isolated showers in the west. Turning very unsettled again on Monday.

Issued at: 1700 on Thu 02 Oct 2014

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Tuesday 7 Oct 2014 to Thursday 16 Oct 2014:

Spells of rain will affect some southeastern and eastern parts during Tuesday and Wednesday, whilst northwestern areas are likely to see frequent showers. There will be more in the way of drier intervals across central regions, however it will remain breezy, especially in the northwest and through the English Channel, perhaps with gales. Temperatures will be near average, or a little below, but feeling cold at times in the wind and rain. Whilst the wind will gradually ease into the weekend, further showers are likely, especially across the northwest, with spells of more persistent rain continuing across southern areas at times. The unsettled conditions are then likely to continue during the following week, although southeastern and eastern parts are more likely to see prolonged drier periods.

UK Outlook for Friday 17 Oct 2014 to Friday 31 Oct 2014:

Current indications suggest that generally unsettled conditions are likely to affect many areas of the UK during this period, with spells of wet and windy weather. However these are likely to be interspersed with drier and clearer interludes, which will also bring an increasing risk of overnight frosts and fog patches, especially across northern parts. Daytime temperatures generally close to the seasonal average.
