    Monday is likely to be cloudy with bands of rain and strong winds in the north-west. These may well spread into central areas later in the day. However, the south-eastern half of the UK will probably stay dry all day with sunny spells. Temperatures will stay above normal everywhere and it is likely to be warm in the east. By midweek, high pressure will become more dominant and the dry, bright weather will spread to the whole country for a few days. Winds will be light nearly everywhere. The best of the sunshine and the warmest temperatures will be in the south, with more cloud in the north. More changeable weather will probably become established by the start of the following week, especially in the north-west.

Temperatures are expected to be warmer than average, but with rather chilly nights at times, leading to frost in a few places. Any colder spells are likely to be short-lived too, although there are some hints that these may become more prevalent later in the month.
