    Tonight:

Most of the outbreaks of rain should clear away during the first part of the night leaving it largely dry with clear spells. Less chilly than recent nights. Minimum Temperature 9C.

    Friday:

It should be a mostly dry day with some decent sunny spells. However, it is still going to feel generally cool with some outbreaks of showery rain. Maximum Temperature 17C.

Mostly fine on Saturday apart from the odd shower. Dry and fine come Sunday before wet and windy weather spreads eastwards into Monday. Cold nights over the weekend.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Cool again with showery rain slowly spreading southwards.

    Today:

Breezy with cloud and showery rain slowly spreading southwards, but staying bright and largely dry in the southeast. Brightening again from the northwest later although some heavy, perhaps thundery, showers are possible for eastern Scotland. Cool again for many.

    Tonight:

Less chilly than recent nights for southern parts with cloud and outbreaks of showery rain. Clearer and cooler conditions in the north continuing to edge southwards, with some showers.

    Friday:

Cloud and showery outbreaks of rain across southern areas, clearing the far south early in the afternoon. Sunny spells and a few showers following from the north. Another cool day.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Sunny periods on Saturday with showers mainly around northern and eastern coasts. Cool but mostly fine on Sunday, before outbreaks of rain spread eastwards into Monday, with temperatures rising.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Tuesday 26 Aug 2014 to Thursday 4 Sep 2014:

Any lingering rain in the far east may clear on Tuesday, there will then be spells of rain or showers through the middle of next week as a mobile westerly pattern becomes established. Winds could be locally strong in the north and west, with a risk of gales. It then stays rather unsettled through the period with scattered showers or longer spells of rain, interspersed with brighter spells. The wettest weather is likely to be in the northwest with stronger winds also likely at times, whilst the best of the drier and brighter interludes will be towards the southeast. It will stay cool in the wind and rain, although temperatures will be close to or slightly below normal, but warm at times during any drier spells and towards the southeast.

UK Outlook for Thursday 4 Sep 2014 to Thursday 18 Sep 2014:

Current signals continue to suggest a broadly changeable spell of weather. As such, most regions can expect to see spells of fine weather, with some warm sunshine at times. However, these spells will then be interspersed with more unsettled conditions bringing showery outbreaks and perhaps more prolonged spells of rain. Northern and western parts are then likely to see the most frequent bouts of unsettled weather, whilst southern and eastern parts are likely to see the most frequent and prolonged fine and dry spells. Daytime temperatures, meanwhile, are likely to be warm during the fine spells and near or below average during unsettled weather.
