    Becoming dry with prolonged sunshine Sunday and Monday, with chilly mornings. Less cold Tuesday morning, with perhaps a little more cloud around, but remaining dry.

    A chilly start for some this morning, followed by a day of sunshine and showers. Some of the showers may turn heavy with the risk of hail and thunder. Breezy too, with the best of the brightness in the east.

    Tonight:

    Showers tending to die away in the north and east leaving another chilly night here. Elsewhere, showers continuing for some, with more persistent showery rain arriving from the southwest later.

    Saturday:

    Mostly dry in the north with spells of sunshine and isolated showers for some. Meanwhile, further showery rain to come for the south with some heavy and thundery bursts possible.

    Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

    Dry with plenty of sunshine on Sunday. Remaining fine and dry in the south and east on Monday and Tuesday, though turning wet and windy in the north and west.

    Dry and bright for many areas to end the working week with some warm sunshine by day, however nights will turn chilly under clear skies with a risk of fog and local grass frost. More unsettled weather with rain and stronger winds will probably return to northern and western parts by the weekend, however some southeastern areas could remain fine until the start of the new week. Thereafter a changeable weather pattern is expected to dominate across all areas, most unsettled, wet and windy in the northwest, while southeastern parts will see drier, calmer conditions with only infrequent spells of rain. Temperatures are generally expected to be above average, but feeling cooler in wet and windy spells, and with some chilly nights where skies stay clear.

    There is currently low confidence for the forecast during the second half of October, however the most likely scenario is for changeable conditions to dominate across most parts. The north and northwest are likely to see the most unsettled weather, with strong winds and showers or longer spells of rain, interspersed with some drier interludes. Further south and southeast there is a greater likelihood of drier, brighter weather, although still with the risk of some rain at times. Temperatures will vary through the period, probably averaging out slightly above normal for the time of year, though with an increasing risk of overnight frost in the more settled spells, especially in the north.
