    Rain, which will be heavy at times, will linger over the Northern Isles overnight. Elsewhere it will be dry across much of the UK with clear spells, although a few showers are also expected, mainly in western parts.


    England and Wales will be mostly dry and breezy with sunny spells. Showers are likely in parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the far west of England.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Across the north and west it will often be breezy with sunshine and showers. Further south and east it will often be dry, with warm sunny spells and lighter winds.

    UK Outlook for Monday 28 Aug 2017 to Wednesday 6 Sep 2017:

    On Monday, a band of thick cloud some outbreaks of rain and strong winds are likely to spread eastwards across the country. The rain will be heaviest in the NW and it may remain dry and warm in the southeast, although there is a small risk of one or two thundery showers continuing. Into next week, we are likely to see unsettled conditions, with spells of wet and windy weather, particularly in the northwest. It will be drier in general across the southeast, although there is a risk of some thundery showers here at times. There may be a longer spell of more settled weather in early September. Temperatures will probably be near normal, though perhaps warm at times in the south.
