    Wednesday:

    A cloudy but mainly dry day, with perhaps a few brighter spells towards the north coast. Mild, with a fresh to strong southerly wind, touching gale over coasts and hills. Maximum Temperature 10 °C.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Thursday cloudy, windy and rather cold, but mainly dry. Some showery rain on Friday mainly in the west, and milder and less windy. Saturday dry with some sunshine.

    Dense freezing fog will be slow to clear across parts of southern England and Wales, but away from this it'll be cold with sunny spells. Scotland and Northern Ireland will be cloudier, breezier and milder with light rain at times.

    Tonight:

    Locally dense fog will re-form across eastern and southern England. Elsewhere, variable cloud will give patchy frost for some, whilst northern England and north Wales may see some light rain.

    Wednesday:

    Staying cold and dry across England and Wales with fog slowly clearing southern parts to give some sunshine. Milder and windier in the north-west with rain affecting the Hebrides later.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Colder and windier for all on Thursday and Friday, with sunny spells by day and frosty nights. Winds easing into Saturday with showery rain, mainly in the north and west.

    UK Outlook for Saturday 28 Jan 2017 to Monday 6 Feb 2017:

    The weekend will bring a change to more unsettled conditions for many parts of the UK. Outbreaks of locally heavy rain are likely to affect western and northern parts, where it'll be mild and windy with gales possible in the north-west. Staying drier in the east and south-east, where some cold nights remain possible. Similar conditions are likely as we move through into the first week of February. Bands of rain will probably cross the country, interspersed with brighter and showery interludes. Windy at times, with gales likely in the northwest. The heaviest rain is also likely across northern and western parts. Temperatures are likely to be mild into the start of February, however there is a chance that the southeast may be drier and colder at times.

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 7 Feb 2017 to Tuesday 21 Feb 2017:

    At the start of this period the most likely scenario is for more unsettled weather with wet and windy spells interspersed with brighter and showery interludes. This would bring gales at times, especially in the northwest. Temperatures are likely to be slightly above normal for the time of year. South-eastern parts may well stay drier and brighter. From the middle of February, confidence in the forecast reduces but there is a possibility that high pressure will return, bringing more settled weather with lighter winds. As a result, temperatures may become colder at times, with overnight frost and fog again possible.
