    A cloudy day with rain most persistent over Dumfries and Galloway and the Borders. Becoming drier for a while over the Lothians but a few heavy showers will develop. Still feeling cool with a light northerly breeze. Maximum Temperature 14°C.

    Tonight:

    Any heavy showers across the Lothians will die out with persistent rain elsewhere clearing southwards. This will allow all parts to become dry overnight with some clear spells developing. Minimum Temperature 8°C.

    Wednesday:

    A mainly dry, bright day with scattered showers. The showers mainly over the Border Hills with best sunshine towards Stranraer. Feeling a little warmer than Tuesday despite the northerly breeze. Maximum Temperature 17°C.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Mostly dry and bright on Thursday, a few showers developing, but feeling warmer than of late with lighter winds. Cloudier with showery rain on Friday. Sunny intervals and showers Saturday.

    Today:

    Showers or longer spells of rain across Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England, locally heavy and thundery in places. Sunny spells and scattered showers elsewhere but largely dry across the south. Temperatures below average but feeling pleasant in the sunshine.

    Tonight:

    Rather cloudy with showery rain across Northern Ireland, Northern England and Wales, locally heavy and possibly thundery. Dry with clear spells and breezy in the south. Cooler in the north.

    Wednesday:

    Dry and bright with sunny spells for many. There are likely to be some showers, possibly heavy at times, mainly in north and east. Breezy around eastern coasts, easing later.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Dry for much of the UK on Thursday with lighter winds. Some chilly nights in places. Turning showery and breezy in the northwest on Friday, extending southwards a little Saturday.

    UK Outlook for Sunday 2 Aug 2015 to Tuesday 11 Aug 2015:

    Many places fine and dry on Sunday with some sunny spells, especially across central and eastern parts. Cloud and rain though is likely to move into western parts later, before making erratic progress east during Monday, although the southeast may stay dry, with just a small chance of a thunderstorm. Temperatures near normal for many, but perhaps becoming very warm in the southeast for a time. Thereafter, the changeable conditions are likely to continue, with the north most likely to see the most frequent spells of wind and rain, with southern areas seeing the best of any drier and settled weather. Temperatures are likely to be near or just below normal in the north, and most likely near normal in the south, however some warmer spells are possible at times.

    UK Outlook for Wednesday 12 Aug 2015 to Wednesday 26 Aug 2015:

    There are signals for a continuation of a north-south spilt in the weather during the middle of August. The north is likely to see the most frequent spells of wind and rain, with the best of the drier and more settled conditions in the south, although some outbreaks of rain are likely to reach here at times. Temperatures on the whole will be near or a little below average for the time of year, especially in the north, although in any settled spells of weather in the south temperatures may become rather warm at times.
