Mist and fog across England and Wales will lift through the morning leaving cloudy skies across the UK. Some sunny spells will break through at times, under these it will feel warm in the south but more autumnal further north.

Into this evening it will turn breezy, with a band of potentially heavy rain pushing into the southwest. This will push northwards through the night, reaching southern Scotland by dawn.

It will remain breezy through the day on Monday with the rain continuing northwards. Behind this it will be showery with drier interludes but feeling warm.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 9 Oct 2015 to Sunday 18 Oct 2015:

A chilly start for many on Friday then a fine and dry day for many places, although northern and western parts may have outbreaks of rain. Into next weekend and the following week things become very uncertain with the situation finely-balanced between Atlantic systems from the west and high pressure dominating to the east or northeast. As a result we may see dry, breezy and quite chilly conditions in many eastern and northeastern areas whilst western and southwestern areas are more at risk for spells of wet and windy weather which could bring gales at times. These more unsettled conditions might extend into eastern parts at times. Although temperatures will probably be around average for October, there is an increasing chance of rather cold conditions developing.

UK Outlook for Monday 19 Oct 2015 to Monday 2 Nov 2015:

Things look very uncertain for the remainder of October into early November. However, we may see a return to generally more changeable conditions through the period with spells of wet and windy weather interspersed with periods of drier and brighter weather. Western areas will therefore become more at risk of seeing the wettest and most unsettled conditions with the best of the drier, brighter conditions likely in the east and southeast. Temperatures will probably balance out close to or slightly below average, but with the possibility of some chilly nights in the more settled spells which could give rural frosts.
