Regional forecast for Yorkshire & Humber

Bitterly cold with further wintry showers.

    Today:

A bitterly cold day with sunny intervals and wintry showers. These may be of rain or sleet at first close to coasts, but by evening they will mostly fall as snow. Strong winds will give a significant wind chill. Maximum Temperature 4C.

    Tonight:

Further showers overnight, these likely to fall as snow away from coasts giving further accumulations, especially across the moors. Strong northerly winds will accentuate the cold. Minimum Temperature -1C.

    Sunday:

Sunday will be another cold day, but away from coastal areas it will be largely dry. Some sunny intervals are likely but there will still be a cold northerly wind. Maximum Temperature 4C.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

Remaining cold throughout with widespread frost. Further snow showers likely, particularly on Tuesday and Wednesday when a northeasterly wind could help them move further inland.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Wednesday 4 Feb 2015 to Friday 13 Feb 2015:

The cold weather will continue with northerly winds through Wednesday and Thursday likely bringing hail, sleet and snow showers across northern parts and perhaps also to eastern coastal areas, with widespread overnight frosts. There is a low probability of more widespread rain and snow over western parts at this time too. From Friday onwards it is thought that conditions will gradually become more influenced by the Atlantic with temperatures returning nearer to normal, although the transition period will have the potential for further snow in places. Conditions would then settle into a changeable pattern with unsettled periods of weather being interspersed by temporary settled conditions. Towards the middle of February there is a possibility that the more unsettled conditions will shift north, becoming more settled in the south.

UK Outlook for Saturday 14 Feb 2015 to Saturday 28 Feb 2015:

Whilst changeable Atlantic conditions will likely prevail at the start of the period, it currently it looks most probable that a period of more settled weather will become established, at least for a time, across most parts of the UK with slightly drier, and colder conditions than average. Temperatures will be cold across the UK, especially overnight, with frosts likely at times.
