    Outbreaks of rain and milder temperatures will continue spreading east overnight. Rain turning heavy and persistent across the hills. Winds will also strengthen. Minimum Temperature 3 °C.

    Saturday:

    A wet and windy start, especially across western hills, before rain clears, perhaps allowing some sunny spells later. Drier in the east, with some brighter spells possible throughout. Maximum Temperature 11 °C.

    Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

    Dry start Sunday, before rain and strong winds spread east later. Turning cold Monday with sunny spells and occasional wintry showers. Brisk winds and further wintry showers likely Tuesday.

    Cold and bright. Turning wet and windy in the north-west.

    Today:

    It will be a cold and bright start with patchy frost and the risk of ice. England and Wales will remain fine and cold with lighter winds, but across western Scotland and Northern Ireland it will become wet and windy.

    Tonight:

    Unsettled weather will arrive overnight with gales in the north-west and persistent rain across western Scotland and north-west England. Further south it will be drier but cloudy. Mild for all.

    Saturday:

    Wet and windy weather will spread southwards, with persistent rain on western upslopes of England and Wales. Little rain will reach the east and the north-west will turn drier. Mild.

    Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

    Staying unsettled over the next few days with spells of wet and windy weather for many. Turning colder next week with sunshine and blustery showers, these wintry on the hills.

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 28 Feb 2017 to Thursday 9 Mar 2017:

    A fairly unsettled picture is likely at first, as further weather systems affect the UK from the Atlantic. Sunshine and showers are likely for many areas at first. Further frontal zones then bringing cloudier, wetter weather, particularly in the north west; with some snow over northern hills. Feeling colder than of late, especially further north, with temperatures closer to average in the south. The changeable Atlantic influence could remain in place through early March, with stronger winds and rain more likely in north and western areas; drier and brighter further south and east, but temperatures returning to around normal. There is a smaller probability of more settled conditions developing on the continent, which could bring a greater risk of overnight fog and frost particularly for eastern UK.

    UK Outlook for Friday 10 Mar 2017 to Friday 24 Mar 2017:

    For the rest of March signals are weak and confidence is low. There could be spells of wet and windy weather, interspersed with brighter and showery conditions with some snow possible across the north of the UK. There could, however, also be some drier and brighter spells, particularly in the south and east where we may see some local frost and fog at times overnight. Temperatures are expected to be around average for the time of year but there remains a small chance of seeing a more prolonged cold spell, if settled conditions were to develop more widely. This is more likely later in the period.
