    A dry start but persistent rain soon extending northwards across all parts this morning. Rather cool and wet this afternoon with some heavy rain in places. although becoming a little drier across the eastern Borders for a time Maximum Temperature 16C.

    Tonight:

    Wet this evening with further spells of heavy rain. Drier weather gradually edging north after midnight, although still a few showers across Galloway. Minimum Temperature 12C.

    Sunday:

    A cloudy start across Dumfries and Galloway, else a brighter day with scattered showers and some of these will turn heavy by afternoon. Feeling warmer with light winds. Maximum Temperature 19C.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

    Dry with some sunshine on Monday. Bright with showers on Tuesday. Dry and bright on Wednesday but rain later in the day.

    Rain, occasionally heavy, in the west continues northwards into Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland. Turning windy, particularly along exposed Irish Sea coasts. Elsewhere, showers, some heavy, and brighter spells. Becoming drier and less breezy from the south later.

    Tonight:

    Rain, occasionally heavy, and strong winds continuing to gradually move northwards, affecting Northern Ireland and western Scotland. Elsewhere, mainly dry with clear spells, easing winds and isolated showers.

    Sunday:

    Rain in Northern Ireland and Scotland will gradually clear and winds steadily ease. It will be drier in the south, with variable cloud, warm sunny intervals and isolated showers.

    Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:

    A period of sunshine and showers. Showers most likely in the west and southwest, heavy at times Tuesday, possibly reaching northwest later Wednesday. Temperatures near normal, warm in southeast.

    UK Outlook for Wednesday 6 Aug 2014 to Friday 15 Aug 2014:

    A mixture of sunshine and scattered showers are likely during Wednesday and Thursday, although southern and eastern parts are likely to see more frequent drier intervals and sunny spells. It then remains unsettled Friday and into the weekend, especially in the northwest but with a low risk of thundery showers in the south and east at times. A gradual trend to more settled conditions across the south is then signalled by the end of the period, with more in the way of drier and brighter weather, but likely to stay unsettled across the northwest. Temperatures generally near normal, but often warm towards the south and east. Winds generally light to moderate, but locally strong in the northwest at times.

    UK Outlook for Saturday 16 Aug 2014 to Saturday 30 Aug 2014:

    Current signals are for westerly type conditions to dominate during this period. As such, most regions can expect to see spells of fine weather, with some warm sunshine at times. However these spells will then be interspersed with more changeable conditions bringing showery outbreaks and perhaps more prolonged spells of rain. These conditions are most likely across northern and western parts, whilst southern and eastern parts are likely to see the most frequent and prolonged fine spells. There is also a trend for temperatures to be around or above average, and perhaps turning very warm at times during the more settled spells, particularly in the south and east.
