UK forecast for the next 5 days

Turning unsettled this week, but staying warm for many.

Cloud and showery rain moving north, reaching southern Scotland later, perhaps turning heavy and thundery, mainly from the Midlands northwards. Low cloud, mist and coastal fog persisting for north-eastern areas. Some sunshine elsewhere and feeling notably warmer in eastern England.

A mild and rather cloudy night will follow with further outbreaks of rain affecting many parts, especially in the north and west. South-westerly winds will also strengthen.

Mainly cloudy, breezy with outbreaks of locally heavy rain moving north-east across northern and western areas. Generally dry in the east/south-east with some sunny spells, where it'll be locally warm.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Staying unsettled, particularly in the north and west with showers or longer spells of rain, interspersed with some warm sunshine. Breezy for most, particularly on Thursday and Friday.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Sunday 2 Apr 2017 to Tuesday 11 Apr 2017:

After a cold start to Sunday it should turn drier for all, with some good spells of sunshine. We could see the cloud thicken from the west later, with some rain in the far northwest. By early next week, high pressure will begin to build in from the southwest bringing drier, brighter weather with some sunny spells, particularly in the south. It'll stay more unsettled in the northwest however, and it will be windy here, with the risk of coastal gales later in the period. There will be some drier interludes here also though. It will also feel warm in any spring sunshine, particularly in the south and east. It may then turn more generally unsettled later in the period.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 12 Apr 2017 to Wednesday 26 Apr 2017:

Much of this period will see a good deal of settled and dry weather across the UK, especially in the south. We are however likely to see unsettled conditions with cloud, rain and strong winds particularly affecting the far north and west of the UK at times. Such unsettled spells of weather are expected to be short-lived though. Temperatures are likely to be warmer than average, but with rather chilly nights at times, leading to frost in places. Any colder spells are likely to be short-lived too, although there some hints that these may become more prevalent later in the month.
