    Cold with wintry showers, these heavy and frequent at times with a risk of hail and the odd rumble of thunder. Any snow should melt as the showers clear. The northerly winds fresh to strong, coastal gales at first. Maximum Temperature 8 °C.

    Tonight:

    Further wintry showers with occasional clear spells, the showers becoming lighter and well scattered. Winds will also ease leading to a widespread frost away from windward coasts. Minimum Temperature -3 °C.

    Wednesday:

    The showers well scattered with bright or sunny spells. However, thickening cloud is expected to push in from the northwest during the day. Winds light to moderate from the northwest. Maximum Temperature 10 °C.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    A rather cloudy start expected on Thursday, patchy light rain possible. However, mostly dry and becoming brighter with a few sunny breaks. Mainly dry and bright on Friday and Saturday.

    Cold and windy with wintry showers and some sunny spells.

    Today:

    Showers at first in the north and around the coasts will become more widespread inland with sunny spells. Showers falling as hail/sleet/snow mainly over higher ground, but also to lower levels at times. Strong northerly winds making it feel colder.

    Tonight:

    Windy with further wintry showers across central and eastern parts, along with northern and western coasts. A cold night with widespread frost for inland areas.

    Wednesday:

    Cold for most with showers across parts of England and Wales, especially the southeast, but becoming less wintry. Less cold in Scotland and Northern Ireland with cloud and patchy rain.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    A patchy band of rain will move erratically south-eastwards on Thursday. Mainly dry thereafter with some sunny spells. Overnight frosts becoming less widespread and feeling pleasant in any sunny spells.

    UK Outlook for Saturday 29 Apr 2017 to Monday 8 May 2017:

    Saturday is likely to be mainly dry and bright with temperatures less cold than recently, though it will still be rather cool for the time of year. However, rain is likely overnight in the far north and west and this may well spread across the rest of the UK on Sunday, with the best chance of drier weather in the east. There may be some further rain around on Bank Holiday Monday, but also some drier and brighter spells. As we move into the first week of May, we're expecting more settled weather to become established, with temperatures rising significantly giving us a warm week, perhaps very warm in some parts. The dry and settled weather is likely to last to the end of this period.

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 9 May 2017 to Tuesday 23 May 2017:

    High pressure appears more likely to be dominant in the second week of May meaning that below average rainfall is most probable during this time. However, there is a chance of less settled conditions at times, especially across southern and southwestern areas. Temperatures are likely to be above average for the time of year with a chance of some very warm weather at times, with limited risk of frost. The forecast for the third week is less certain, though on balance, we might expect these settled and warmer than average conditions to continue.
