UK forecast for the next 5 days

Mostly cloudy and mild with occasional rain or drizzle.

    This Evening and Tonight:

It will be mild for many with occasional rain or drizzle, low cloud and hill fog in southern and central areas. Clearer, cooler and breezy weather should edge south across the northwest and then into some central parts by dawn.

    Friday:

Cloudy with outbreaks of rain across England and Wales, clearing away to the southeast by evening. Brighter weather with showers following, these frequent in the north and west with gales.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Showers or rain in the northwest, turning heavy and thundery at times. Generally drier with some brightness elsewhere. Windy in the north with gales this weekend, perhaps severe in Scotland.

Issued at: 1700 on Thu 23 Oct 2014

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Tuesday 28 Oct 2014 to Thursday 6 Nov 2014:

A band of cloud and rain over the northwest is expected to move southeastwards across the UK on Tuesday, clearing the far southeast by Wednesday morning. Brighter conditions should follow, however there are likely to be some showers too. These may be heavy and thundery in the north where it will probably be windy with local gales. A north-south split looks most likely to develop thereafter. Windy and unsettled conditions are likely in the north, with the best of the drier weather in the south, although there may be some rain here at times. Temperatures will generally be near normal, although feeling cold in strong winds and rain. Pressure may build further over the south into the start of November, bringing a risk of overnight frost and fog.

UK Outlook for Friday 7 Nov 2014 to Friday 21 Nov 2014:

The main signal is for a continuation of a north-south split during the second week of November. During this period, the generally westerly flow is likely to bring spells of wet and windy weather, mostly affecting northern and some western areas, but perhaps reaching other areas as well, this interspersed with drier intervals. However southern and some eastern areas will probably see more in the way of drier and settled conditions increasing the likelihood of some sunshine, but also the risk of frost, mist and fog overnight, the latter of which could be slow to clear. After this it looks like unsettled weather will spread to much of the UK. Daytime temperatures will probably be near or a little above normal, although feeling cooler during any wet and windy spells.
