UK forecast for the next 5 days

Rain in the south today, brighter and more showery elsewhere.

    Sunday:

Sunday will be largely dry, albeit fresher, with some sunshine. However, patchy rain will affect northwest England, and the north and west of Scotland. Winds easing in the north.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Thursday 15 Dec 2016 to Saturday 24 Dec 2016:

Towards the end of next week, it looks like a west-east split will develop. Frontal systems are likely to move into the west bringing outbreaks of rain, easing as they move eastwards. Pressure then looks more likely to build over the UK during next weekend, bringing drier and, at times, brighter weather for southern parts, although the north may hold onto cloud and outbreaks of rain. Temperatures are likely to be near normal, with frost patches forming where the cloud breaks. There is a large degree of uncertainty as we head towards the Christmas period, however, high pressure looks more likely to dominate leading to drier weather. Nonetheless, there are suggestions that frontal systems will move in from the west bringing spells of rain and milder interludes.

UK Outlook for Sunday 25 Dec 2016 to Sunday 8 Jan 2017:

There is a good deal of uncertainty for this period as the UK remains in a battleground between higher pressure across the near continent and lower pressure in the Atlantic. The exact orientation of these will dictate conditions across the country. Currently western parts are most likely to see outbreaks of rain at times, along with relatively mild conditions, whilst eastern areas will see drier and perhaps colder conditions. There will probably also be some milder, unsettled interludes though, especially into early January.
