    Early rain for Shetland with mist slow to clear. Otherwise a dry and bright day for most with some sunshine. Becoming cloudy later in the evening with a little light rain reaching Orkney. Light southwesterly winds. Maximum Temperature 15 °C.


    Cloudy and becoming misty with with patchy fog later tonight. Also a little rain and drizzle but not amounting to much. A very mild night with light westerly winds. Minimum Temperature 9 °C.


    A grey, misty, damp day with coastal fog patches and only a few brighter interludes in the afternoon. Mild, muggy feel with light southwest winds. Maximum Temperature 14 °C.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    High pressure will maintain mostly dry, settled conditions. However there will be extensive mist with coastal fog slow to lift. Some brighter warm weather developing, especially over Orkney.

    Largely dry today with some warm sunny spells for most. However, skies will be cloudier in the southwest with mist and fog over hills and along some coasts. Outbreaks of rain in the far northwest at times.


    Staying generally dry overnight, apart from patchy rain in the northwest. Skies turning cloudier across western parts with widespread hill fog.


    Patchy rain in the far northwest will gradually ease through the day. Dry elsewhere with patchy cloud and sunny spells, but coastal fog persisting along some southern coasts.

    Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

    Dry at first with increasing amounts of sunshine, and becoming very warm or hot for many. However, an increasing chance of thundery showers moving into western areas on Saturday.

    UK Outlook for Sunday 28 May 2017 to Tuesday 6 Jun 2017:

    A very uncertain period, but the more likely scenario is for rather mixed conditions during the Bank Holiday, with showery outbreaks of rain, perhaps heavy and thundery, but also some brighter spells. Temperatures are likely to be down compared to earlier on in the weekend, although it should stay rather warm and humid, especially in the southeast. Meanwhile, it will probably be cooler and fresher in the north and west, where we may see windier conditions. Into next week, we will generally see a mixture of sunshine and showers, particularly across the northwest. However, we may hold on to drier, brighter and perhaps warmer conditions in the far southeast, although some thundery showers are possible.

    UK Outlook for Wednesday 7 Jun 2017 to Wednesday 21 Jun 2017:

    Confidence in the forecast remains low into early June, but on balance the first weekend of the month looks set to remain unsettled with showers or longer spells of rain, interspersed with some drier and brighter weather. Into the following week, and more settled weather may begin to dominate bringing drier and brighter weather for many. Temperatures are likely to be close to normal during the start of this period, but as more settled weather arrives it is likely that it will be generally warmer and may become very warm in places.
