    After a bright start to the day cloud will increase as a band of heavy, perhaps thundery, rain moves into the area from the west this afternoon. Windy all day. Maximum Temperature 10C.


    Rain clearing eastwards allowing skies to clear and a frost to form in places. Later in the night cloud will increase again but most parts should stay dry. Minimum Temperature -1C.


    Breezy and cold with some sunny spells but also further showers which may turn wintry at times. During the afternoon the showers should become isolated leading to a bright evening. Maximum Temperature 6C.

    Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

    Tuesday: Mix of sunshine and wintry showers. Very windy. Wednesday: Breezy with sunny intervals and scattered showers. Thursday: Cloud thickening, patchy rain later, becoming milder.

    Very windy with gales for many and squally wintry showers.


    Gales at first, severe in the northeast, but winds easing through the day. Sunshine and blustery showers, heaviest and increasingly wintry in northwest. A spell of heavy, squally rain moving across southern/central parts later with snow possible on northern edge.


    Remaining breezy for all, with further blustery showers in the north and west. Showers becoming increasingly wintry with snow over hills and even to lower levels, bringing an ice risk.


    Windy with possible local gales. Sunny spells and wintry showers, heaviest and most frequent in the north and west with a local thunder risk. Significant snow accumulations over northern hills.

    Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

    Cold and windy with further wintry showers on Tuesday. Turning drier with lighter winds from the west on Wednesday. Milder conditions with some rain spreading south-eastwards through Thursday.

    Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

    UK Outlook for Thursday 5 Mar 2015 to Saturday 14 Mar 2015:

    It should be cold and bright at first on Thursday, then whilst it will likely stay dry and sunny across southern and eastern parts; cloud, rain and strong winds should move into the far northwest. This will slowly sink southeast,later on Thursday and through Friday. It should then become drier and less windy, although further rain is possible in the northwest later on Friday. More changeable conditions with variable cloud and occasional outbreaks of rain or drizzle likely follow over the weekend. Drier conditions look to become more prevalent in the following week with temperatures close to, or slightly above average by day, but with some cold nights in contrast. There could be some cloudier interludes with rain at times, mainly in the northwest.

    UK Outlook for Sunday 15 Mar 2015 to Sunday 29 Mar 2015:

    In the second half of March it looks probable that there will be higher than average pressure across the whole UK at first, but that this effect would weaken and become more focussed over and to the south of the UK by the end of the period. This would bring generally drier conditions, but it is likely that there would be some cloud at times, with some occasional rain or showers particularly across the north. However, the chance of any prolonged wet and windy weather is fairly small. Temperatures will most likely to be close to average, perhaps slightly below average in the southwest, perhaps bringing some cold nights with the risk of overnight frosts, and maybe with some overnight mist or fog.
