    Heavy rain at first. Improving from late morning.


    Cloudy and misty at first with long periods of locally heavy rain. This rain will move northwards this morning allowing drier brighter weather to arrive by midday. Sunny spells developing this afternoon. Mainly light winds. Maximum Temperature 23 °C.


    Long clear spells allowing some mist or fog patches to form. Later in the night cloud will thicken in the west, but most parts will stay dry. Minimum Temperature 11 °C.


    Variable amounts of cloud with the odd shower further west, where it will be breezy. The best of the sunshine will be further east where most parts will stay dry. Maximum Temperature 21 °C.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Mainly dry with sunny spells on Friday. More cloud on Saturday and Sunday with some heavy, perhaps thundery, showers developing. Generally warm inland, but with fresher coastal breezes

    UK forecast for the next 5 days

    Rain clearing from the north-east. Drier and fresher elsewhere.


    Heavy rain in Scotland as well as northern and eastern England will gradually clear eastwards. Further south, cloud will move to the east during the afternoon. In the west, brighter, fresher weather will follow, with showers, mainly in Northern Ireland.


    The last of the rain will clear from northeast Scotland during the evening, leaving much of the UK dry overnight. A few showers will affect western parts.


    England and Wales will be mostly dry and breezy with sunny spells. A few showers are likely in parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and the far west of England.

    Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

    Friday will be dry and bright for most, though rain will affect the far north and west. Sunny spells are likely over the weekend, with showers, mainly in the northwest.

    UK Outlook for Monday 28 Aug 2017 to Wednesday 6 Sep 2017:

    On Monday, a band of thick cloud some outbreaks of rain and strong winds are likely to spread eastwards across the country. The rain will be heaviest in the NW and it may remain dry and warm in the southeast, although there is a small risk of one or two thundery showers continuing. Into next week, we are likely to see unsettled conditions, with spells of wet and windy weather, particularly in the northwest. It will be drier in general across the southeast, although there is a risk of some thundery showers here at times. There may be a longer spell of more settled weather in early September. Temperatures will probably be near normal, though perhaps warm at times in the south.

    During this period, we are most likely to see changeable weather conditions featuring across the United Kingdom. However, there will be some dry and fine weather at times too. On balance spells of rain and strong winds are likely to dominate in the north and west, with drier and brighter weather more common in the south and east. Temperatures will probably remain close to normal for the time of year in most parts, though they may become warm or very warm at times in the south which may generate some thunderstorms.
