A mostly cloudy day with a brisk westerly breeze. Dry for some, but with occasional outbreaks of light rain and drizzle possible. It will be rather mild for the time of year. Maximum Temperature 15 °C.

Tonight:

Staying cloudy with some hill fog overnight, and with more widespread outbreaks of rain and drizzle expected after midnight. It will stay mild and frost free. Minimum Temperature 7 °C.

Tuesday:

Cloudy with patchy outbreaks of light rain at first, easing for a time, but then further more widespread outbreaks of rain are expected in the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 13 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Cloudy with further patchy rain on Wednesday, then wet overnight and turning less mild with very windy conditions and showers on Thursday. Friday likely drier, brighter and more settled.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
