This Evening and Tonight:

A fine evening is expected with some sunny spells possible. Remaining dry overnight, with some clear spells, light winds and perhaps the odd patch of mist or fog. However cloud will thicken across western parts around dawn. Minimum Temperature 11 °C.

Wednesday:

Turning breezy with cloud thickening from the west during the morning. Some sporadic outbreaks of rain are then likely, before gradually easing away east later in the day. Maximum Temperature 20 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Windy and feeling cool, with sunshine and scattered showers on Thursday and Friday. Some heavy rain possible overnight into Saturday, but soon clearing to further sunny spells and occasional showers.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
