Clear skies are likely to develop for all during this evening, leading to a rather cold overnight period, There will also be a fresh easterly breeze, which is likely to remain strong along English Channel coasts. Minimum Temperature 2 °C.

Saturday:

Largely unbroken sunshine will lead to a mostly warm day, especially inland. However a fresh to strong easterly breeze will bring a noticeably cooler feel along coastal areas. Maximum Temperature 15 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mostly dry and sunny on Sunday, but staying breezy. Possibly turning cloudier during Monday, although winds will ease. Becoming brighter Tuesday, with some warm sunny spells developing.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
