A clear and frosty start to the day with some isolated mist and fog patches which will slowly clear. Sunny through the day with light winds. Maximum Temperature 6 °C.

Tonight:

Mostly clear and cold with winds remaining light and a widespread frost. Areas of mist and freezing fog will develop in places. Minimum Temperature -3 °C.

Saturday:

A mostly bright, frosty start with fog patches slowly clearing. Cloud will gradually arrive through the afternoon although it will remain dry. Maximum Temperature 6 °C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Patchy cloud and bright spells Sunday. Dry with some brightness Monday and Tuesday although mist and fog will develop widely overnight lingering through the day for some. Overnight frosts throughout.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
