Heavy rain and murky conditions should clear for a time during the early evening, but further sporadic, and lighter spells of rain are likely from late evening onwards. Feeling rather mild with mainly light winds. Minimum Temperature 11 °C.

Friday:

A fair amount of cloud around with light showers in places, with some brighter spells will be mixed in especially during the morning. Light winds during the day, strengthening overnight. Maximum Temperature 16 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Becoming very windy on Saturday and Sunday with bright spells and blustery heavy showers, these often persistent in the west. Less windy Monday with rain clearing to sunshine and showers.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
