Hazard Manager is provided by the Met Office as a part of our commitment to the Public Weather Service. This requirement is defined in the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
Responders are classified into two categories:
Category 1 responders are those organisations at the core of emergency response (e.g. emergency services, local authorities).
Category 2 responders are 'co-operating bodies' who, while less likely to be involved in the heart of planning work, will be heavily involved in incidents that affect their sector (e.g. Health and Safety Executive, transport and utility companies).
Hazard Manager is designed for use by Category 1 and Category 2 responders and provides a one-stop information source for the emergency response community, allowing you to access your services in one location, using a single username and password.
It is not designed to be used as a self-briefing tool and should only be used in conjunction with advice from the Met Office or Flood Forecasting Centre.
The Met Office stores any personal details in line with the current Data Protection Act.
