Site-specific hazard forecasts for platforms and car parks

Forecasts available between 1 October and 31 March

This automated service provides site-specific forecasts of weather conditions that are likely to cause problems for passengers using station car parks and platforms. It is also highly useful for train operators concerned about icy conditions in depots or sidings.

OpenPlatform warns of wintry conditions that, for example, may require snow clearance or the application of de-icers to railway property. Forecasts are produced automatically from the Met Office’s powerful OpenRoad model, and are accessed via the web.
